Too bad for you, you just can't find the right companion

I don't really have time to write much, but here's a funny video from the All-American Rejects. It just came up on my "suggestion" list on youtube. It is a cover/parody of Womanizer by Britney Spears and even though it sounds kinda annoying I thought it's hilarious. Watch out for the guy with the bottles in the back!

Don't suppose I'll ever know what it means to be a man, something I can't change, I'll live around it

I'm back from my ski-trip, now I will tell you all about it (So if you don't wanna know about it scroll waaaaaay down or just ignore this post =P). While reading you can listen to this song (and to know more about this song scroll down):

  • Friday: The bus left at 8pm from our town, it was a double decker, and there already was a class from another town in it. The interior of the bus was kinda strange, it had neon-green light and transparent rails xD. We really had fun for the first few hours, me and two friends of mine wasted our time by singing along to music, making a music quiz by guessing what the others were lip-syncing, dancing, talking a.s.o. At midnight we called a friend because it was her birthday and sang for her. The rest of the journey was spent with sleeping, if possible, because the driver stopped every three hours and wanted everyone to leave the bus for half an hour so that was pretty annoying - and cold.
  • Saturday: We arrived at 5:30 in the morning, the driver unloaded our luggage and left. There we stood, on the parking lot, with our luggage in the cold in front of the hostel at 5:30 am. Our first welcomer was some drunk student who thought and shouted we were albanian-germans (wtf?), he could barely walk. In fact, nobody could, because there was so much ice. Our teacher told us that the other class still hadn't left their rooms and that there were too many people in the dining hall so we had to wait. After a while we could go into the dining hall, leaving the luggage and three of us outside to watch it (We changed every now and then, of course). We had some breakfast and waited a loooong time (again trying to make time go by faster by playing cards etc), until 12 or something, had lunch and could finally move into our rooms. In our room we were five pupils and had 3 loft beds. After having taken a shower I felt like a whole new person =)...Since we still had the whole afternoon to be filled with activities, most of us decided to take a walk through the village where we lived. When my friends and I passed a bus stop we spontaneously decided to go to Innsbruck, that's a city in Austria a little bigger than the town I live in. With the help of many super-friendly Austrian we made our way to Innsbruck (by bus and by train), went shopping there (more for food than for anything else), had some coffee and went back.

  • us in Innsbruck
  • That trip was really fun and definitely a good idea because Saturday was our only free day and nobody made it to Innsbruck afterwards.
  • The next day was our first skiing day, we got up at 7 am, changed into our skiing clothes, had breakfast, got the ski-shoes and the skis they gave us the day before and took the bus to Kaltenbach, the skiing area where we woud spend the next 6 days skiing. Our first tries on skis were kinda easy, everybody was able to more or less do the first few maneuvers so we divided into groups (1 advanced and 3 beginners-groups) and headed to something the skiers call "the idiots-hill". It's not a real slope, but steep enough to move forward =). We stayed there for the whole morning, tried ot different types of lifts and had lunch (gross). In the afternoon our group went to ski on our first real slope, a blue one (it's like levels: blue="easy"; red=hard; black=really hard). We were all excited and a little scared at the same time but I think we all did a good job for our first time being on skis. At the end we went down another blue slope and there I had my first fall: Going straight forward, I had to much speed, way too much speed for my taste (on the first day), and there was a skier in front of me, going reeeaaally slow. Not really knowing how to change direction, I hectically decided on hitting the wall of snow next to me. I don't know how I fell, I just know that I was lying there, skis next to me stuck in the snow and the skier who was in front of me lookind down on me from above and asking me if I was okay. I had to laugh so much, it really felt like a movie scene! That wouldn't be my last fall, of course...
  • Monday we stayed in our groups, this time we went straight to the blue slope, practising turns, curves, dragging and slowing down. Everybody learned pretty fast, but as we were going in one line, like a caterpillar, it was one falling down = the one behind him falling down. It didn't hurt but must have looked hilarious!
  •  Tuesday we devided into new groups. Again we had the advanced ones, same people, then we had the advanced/beginners-group, and two more beginners groups. I was lucky to be in the advanced/beginners group, we were four people, and we had two teachers, the sister of one of our teachers and her husband, an american guy (so we ended up having bilingual skiing lessons). We started with a new blue slope which was a little steeper than the ones before and then started with our first red one. The aim was to keep the skis parallel, because as a beginner you start moving with the tips of the skis turned towards each other (that makes you go slower). The two were great teachers and we had small groups of two, imagine how good it was to learn to ski like that. We spent all day like this, takind different lifts to different red slopes.
  • Wednesday we had the same groups and while going down all these red slopes which were partly steep, partly a little flatter I had to concentrate so much that I didn't even realize how steep it actually was, so when we stopped in a row at the end of a steep part, the american guy (I won't say names here) suddenly said "Hey, look what did guys just went down!" So we loked up and saw this really steep part (at least it seemed so, for us as beginners) which as black-red! I think we gained some more ski/self-confidence during these two days. After dinner we went sledding...we were all excited and looking forward to this fun-activity, well, we thought it was gonna be fun! We took a sleds in pairs of two and started walking to the sledding hill (it was an extra sledding-track). And we walked, walked and walked...every once in a while our teacher said "Ten more minutes to go!" He went on like that for an hour...in total maybe 1 1/2 hours...1 1/2 hours of pure torture! With aching muscles after a 6-hour-day of skiing we made our way up...most of us kept their mouth shutt, others got really angry and started to complain loudly - that was really annoying. I took snow form firs every few metres because I was so thirsty. When we finally arrived at the  top everybody burst out in whoohoing and shouting xD Going down was fun (especially when you have to go in curves but you don't know where the track and where the abyss is ^^), but the walking was not worth it. Having reached the bottom of the hill, one teacher started a snowball fight, the only good part of our trip. Somehow, this teacher was so fast none of us could go after him for revenge, he just disappeared somewhere in the dark. When he came back I surprise him by hitting him with a fat snowball in his face, with the consequence of him throwing himself onto my back down in the snow and pushing loads of snow in my face - ugly feeling, I couldn't even breathe xD. But my ski-mates were already there for revenge. We continued the fight for a while and when we ended I was all white =)
  • Thursday was tyring as we felt the walk from the day before in our muscles and in the afternoon the teacher (who started the fight) took us to a whole new slope, in another skiing area actually, with a red slope being so steep it wasn't fun anymore. In the afternoons the slopes are all undulating and icy so you just slither down sideways sometimes. I was so done that, on one steep part my legs just crocked up. It's good that snow is so soft =) My friend even managed to fall, do two loops without breaking anything - looked scary and hilarious at the same time. I think at skiing you can have the most amazing stunt-fall.so-it-yourself-practise without (mostly) having serious injuries xD It just looks worse than it feels.
  • Friday was the "big" exam, which was going down a red-blue slope with the teachers watching us. After that we were free to go anywhere we wanted to. SOme friends of mine went to some easy red slopes, one had borrowed a snowboard on Thursday and now taught himself how to snowboard - learning by doing. He fell pretty hard sometimes but always got up. In the afternoon we went down to te valley and into some aprés ski bar, you know, the ones with the horrible music xD It was so much fun, we were dancing and singing along and just having so much fun. We went to a disco/bar later that evening, in the village, we were like the only ones dancing there...and went to bed at 2 am.
  • Saturday was our journey back, that meant getting up at 6 am, having breakfast at 6:30 and waiting in the diing room again until 10 am. The time in the bus was boring, exhausting and tyring, but we still had our laughs.
So...that was my ski-trip, I enjoyed it really much and I wouldn't have thought that skiing is so much fun. Next time, I'll try snowboarding! =) I'll upload the phots seperately because blooger is traing to upset me right now X/

Today's title is taken from Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls, which you've already listened to (above). It's one of my favourite songs and it has been ever since I found my dad's Goo Goo Dolls CD. I love the CD, I love the band and I really love this song.
This guy made a pretty good copy...I don't like his mimics though ;-)

You tell the fucking punchline before you have told the joke - Sorry sunshine, it doesn't exist, it wasn't in the Top 100 list

div>
Hey guys, I won't make it to do another post, I'm still busy packing my stuff and we're leaving in 1 1/2 hours!
I'm sure this is gonna be a lot of fun, keep visiting this blog from Sunday on (or as often as you want to, of course) to be updated about my ski-trip and other surf, skate or snowboard news!
I wish you a great week!

I'm gonna make it bend and break, say a prayer but let the good times roll, in case God doesn't show

First day of school in 2009 is over. I only had 4 lesseon anyways, 2 of English and 2 of Spanish. Both were quite boring. Our new topic in English is "The American South" which I think is interesting. We're going to talk about "from slavery to civil rights" and about "the new South" which is about today's life in the south of the USA. In Spanish our topic for this semester is "Él y ella en el teatro español" (He and her in spanish plays)...that is uh...not so interesting. We'll see.
When I got back from school I didn't feel my fingers and toes anymore and I looked like Rudolph (the reindeer) because it still is very cold outside. The ice hasn't gone yet and you have to be careful as hell to not fall down. Anyone going by bike these days might either not have been in Germany for the last 6 days or he/she has gone mad.
Then I went shopping with my mum, I bought 50 blank CD's and a note pad for school because I liked the look of it.

It is mirrored again, but you can still see what it looks like.
We also saw an oversized universal remote control, the buttons were as big as the finger tip of a thumb! There was also an oversized frog toy, and a cool ghetto blaster which had like a case to put and plug your mp3-player in and you can also listen to the radio or to CD's. It wasn't expensive but I already have a nice hi-fi system.

As you can see I updated my profile. Most of the text was inspired by one of my favourite books: Surf Girl Roxy. It shows many fotos of the Roxy surf-team but also contains texts, interviews and stories. The book helps me everytime I miss the warmth and the sun and the sounds and the smell of the seaside. The photographs make you feel a little closer to the beach.
So I took that text which characterises the whole team and (mostly) modified it and added things so it fits my person. The last part of the text is from the song "Pocket full of stars".

Here are some more of my favourite lines in Surf Girl Roxy:

  • "But the honest truth is, the ocean scares the shit out of me. I don't trust myself to hold my own against something so...omnipotent. All those mysterious currents and swells and riptides and rocks and reefs... And that's only half of it! What about everything swimming around you (unfriendly locals, bodyboarders, tourists, kids, old men in Speedos...) and underneath you (sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, sea snakes, giant squid, runaway kelp, poisonous...things)? Surfing may be fun, but it's hard and scary and dangerous, too. [...] These girls are the most fearless versions of themselves. They make me want to become a more fearless version of me. [...] You don't necessarily have to surf to learn something from them. We can all seek a little more danger in life. We can all take more pleasure in simple moments. And we can all test our own waters, seeking a connetion to, a lesson from, something larger than ourselves    -Natalie Linden (she isn't a surfer but wrote the texts in the book)
  • "The ocean never lets you down. It might surprise you, or frighten you, or challenge you, but it's always there for you. [...] You can get to know it, but you can never 100 % predict it. Some days the swell will come up faster than you could ever imagine, and you'll have to battle your way outside. You'll take waves over the head over and over again, barely able to catch your breath. You'll be scared and tired, but you can't give up. If you give up in the ocean, you'll never walk out of it. So you keep paddling, keep thinking, keep moving. You find your inner reserves. And when you make it up to the lineup, you've never been so grateful. You have accepted what the ocean has offered you, and you've proven yourself in the process. It's a metaphor for life."
  • "There are so many different boards, so many different waves and everything, it's like, it's always a new rush. Every morning, I'm just so stoked to get out in the water. Jumping out of my skin. I surf until I can't paddle, or think of doing anything else. Then I go in, relax, chill out, and count down the hours until I can go do it again. That's how it is. I'm an addict. I love it so much it's crazy."
  • "Just be active. Care. Smile when you mean it. Fight for what you love. Doesn't matter if it's surfing or soccer or painting or Greenpeace. It'll show."
  • "There is so much freedom in letting go of fear. On one trip, VK and Rachael took the Jet Ski out for a spin. VK had never driven one before, and she gunned it. They were going so fast, they looked like cartoon characters, cheeks flapping and legs flying everywhere. They hit a swell, ate shit, but they were laughing so hard they almost drowned. [...] You can see it right away in a person: that they're not afraid, or at least not enough to keep them from trying something new."
  • "If the surf is up, we're out three times a day, and spend the rest of the time laughing. If there aren't any waves, we spend the whole time laughing."
  • "The ocean always keeps you on check. Whenever you get cocky, you can count on Mother Nature to slap you in the face and say "Hello, I'm the boss, in case you forgot". [...] Ultimately, I just think life is all about the moment in front of you. I can only get to my future by living through everything in between, so I might as well make the most of every second. Love it as much as you can, or hate it as much as you have to, but just experience it for what it is."
Hope you like it!

It came with the surf it came with a bang, and all across the board my friends felt the same

Today is the last day of my winter holidays, which is sad and great at the same time. Everytime school starts again after New Year's Day, I feel like the year is really starting right at that moment because my everyday life is just getting back to me.
I'm spending the day organizing my school stuff, cleaning my room while drinking Chai (my favourite tea) and copying music into my itunes - At the time I bought my new macbook I already had most of my CD's packed, and now I finally have some time to copy it all into my itunes. Until now I have 1550 songs, thats 201,4 days of music or 5,77 GB. And there's still a lot of music I didn't copy yet =) I also have a lot of old CD's in a box from when I was younger, I'm thinking about copying it into my itunes, but I guess I'll just take a few songs because most of the music I listened to sucks.
I also did myself a favour =P and bought the Surf's Up OST on itunes today. I bought it there because I only cared about the actual soundtrack and not the package - that's a lot cheaper. When I buy CD's of my favourite bands I like to have the original ones though.
So...I gotta say that this soundtrack was absolutely worth buying, not just for surf-fans but for everyone, it has 15 tracks of great music!! I can say that I have like 10 new favourite songs from now on and I'm not kidding! I love them all so much! Be prepared to read about and listen to the soundtrack soon and read, as I promised a looong time ago, the review about the Surf's up movie.
I also got the new The Veronicas album "Hook me up", I borrowed it from a friend. They really changed their sound a lot, you've got to get used to the electro-dance beats and their new "language" but it's actually not bad. Since the first album (which I like better) was more rock-pop, and the second is like pop-electro-dance, I wonder what the next one will be like. Too bad nobody knows them in Germany.

That's enough updates for today, tonight my friend is coming over and we'll go to the hockey-stadium to see a match. It's her first time ever to see a hockey game so I hope she likes it. It's not only about the sport but also a lot about the atmosphere which is amazing, I work there quite a lot and we're all like a big family, I'm always happy to see these people every week. But today I don't have to work so I'm taking my friend - we'll (try to) walk there (I live close to the stadium), hope we don't fall down like I did yesterday (haha) because this ice is e-v-i-l, let me tell you...;-)   -Cross your fingers!

Today's title was taken from Reggae got soul by 311. It's one of the tracks of the Surf's Up OST.

I swallow a lot when the pressure is up and the feeling I've got is I'm not gonna stop

Happy New Year to all of you guys!

I hope you had a great time celebrating. 2008 was ok, the first half of it was amazing and I hope 2009 is going to be even better. I have a good feeling about that. I even have some goals for 2009 and I might even be able to achieve them because it's more or less up to me:
  • Surf Camp! In my summer holidays. I'm desperate to be out in the water again and I already know where to go, France! That's the cheapest place to go to for surfing I guess. Anyone wanna join me? I don't want to go alone ;-)
  • Continue (and improve my) skating! I think there's another skate course taking place this month. First, I should go the the skate hall and practise what I've learned last time though.
  • Improve my grades! My grades weren't bad at all. Still, I know I can do better. And I want to have the prove, on paper =P
  • Enjoy life - cheesy, I know.
2008 was a year of extreme situations.
It started out with a problem which made it really hard for me to be so far away from my family, but it was solved soon.
Right after that I went to surf camp which was one of the best events in my life (so far) and especially in 2008.
I met the most amazing people there, and I couldn't have learned more about surfing and about myself in one week. This camp kind of opened new doors for me.
After that I was stoked, so I went to the beach with friends pretty often, trying to make them surf, too, and it worked, all the time. Playa Jacó was always a blast. Good surf, great weather, funny and special people. More about them later. Oh, I love and miss the beach so much.
In May, I went to Panama City. The canal was impressing! Cheap clothes, huge malls, mini-Manhattan-skyline.
My time in Costa Rica was going to end and was at its best at its best at the same time. We had school president's elections, a big thing, we watched the European Championship all together and my class and I even skipped lessons to watch Germany play and, gosh, how I had to suffer when we lost against Croacia, everyone was like: "Hey, she's from Germany, let's get on her nerves!" After the match I went to classes and the whole school knew that I was german and that Germany lost and I didn't even care that much but they were all shouting and pointing at me as if it were a big deal. I did have some supporters, haha. I also went on vacation with my host fam, we visited several beaches, la casona, too, we had an amazing time. My class made a farewell party for me, Germany beat Portugal meanwhile and I got back at them all ;-)
My host sisters made another surprise party for me at home with our closest friends. It was a girls' sleepover and we had so much fun.
I got back at the end of june, summer holidays were about to start. I was so happy to see all of my friends and family again, it was overwhelming and confusing to be back and after a few days I had a little nervous breakdown but that was only for a few hours =)
At the end of summer holidays I went to Italy for two weeks with a friend of mine. We had big shopping tours in Firence, spent one day in Milano, refreshed our tan on sunny island Elba and recovered all the talking we didn't have for one year :-P
School started again and I was psyched, it was all new and different but soon I got really stressed and didn't enjoy life at all. I hardly had a life. My anti-stress-drug was playing Rugby, that helped a lot.
In November we moved from our old house to an apartment which I love, I really like my new room much better than my old one.

I also met really great people this year:
  • I met this Hawaiian guy, Lorenzo (Ok, people can't choose their names ;-P), who works at a surf shop in Jacó Beach and he always took me and my friends to the other end of the beach with his car when he had students to teach and he gave us water and pineapple and surfer-sunscreen and told us all about surfing in Jacó and the places around. The best was his accent, we spoke english because his spanish wasn't that good. I'm still asking myself one thing: Why the heck would he move from (surfers' paradise) Hawaii to Costa Rica as a surfer? Me and my friend came up with that question when we were back from the beach and we never went back afterwards so I never had the chance to ask him. When I get back I'll ask him - He will still be there, for sure.
  • Jason, an American guy who my friend and I met In Jacó at the cabinas where we stayed. On this trip, we stayed there for 5 days and he did, too, and since you can't really go out in Jacó at night because it can get dangerous, we often stayed at the cabinas, chilled in hammocks and rockers and talked about all different kinds of stuff. We always had a lot of people to join us, but they were always staying for one or two nights. My friend, Jason and I were always there (during these 5 days) and Jason made everybody laugh and talk - he has a talent for that. He's from Florida but lives in Panama City due to his work. He has a little daughter back in Florida and he teaches her spanish (he has this funny american-panamanian accent), and he was on a 1-week-surf vacation in Costa Rica. On the same trip, we also met a german couple, an old American man who had been a missionaire until he and his wife got divorced, two girls from New York, 2 guys from Vancouver, Canada, one girl from Switzerland and one guy from Colorado, USA. On the last evening we went out all together to eat something at a restaurant. One Austrian guy made us fake tatoos on the wrist (I got a lizard). He had learned that in Guatemala from an Indio tribe, they use semen from a tree to make the tatoos. They vanish after 10 days. That trip was fun.
  • My next trip to Jacó, with another friend of mine, was just as great, we met german people, american people, canadian people, australian people. We went to see a surf contest with them at a beach near by. A german woman, hadn't been in Germany for years because she travelled the whole world: Asia, worked in China and India, worked in Uganda, worked in Dublin, travelled Latin America. She wanted to work in Chile or Argentina and go to Australia after that. One guy, Erik, was from the USA but lives in Puerto Rico and works there as a surf instructor. My friend and I were happy to hear that, but he told us he didn't want to teach anybody in Jacó because he has to do that 7 days a week in Puerto Rico and wanted to enjoy surfing himself in Costa Rica. But when he heard that I got so much into surfing he was trying to talk me into buying a board inmediately. He explained me every single board in a catalogue and marked the ones that could be mine, in categories: "If you buy it an sell it when you go back to Germany", "If you move to Costa Rica and stay", "If  you wanna surf in Europe and go on vacation-surf trips" "If you wanna become a longboard-girl". I still have that catalogue ;-) Lorenzo joined him and wanted to write my parents an email with arguments about why I should buy a board xD
  • There were loads of other people there, and they all had their own story to tell. I met all of them in Jacó whichis definitely a big point for this little beach town.
  • In Germany, I didn't meet that many new people, but many known beloved people who I am happy to know and proud of being their friend <3
Edit: The german woman who travels aound the world was in a group with one Canadian and one Australian guy. One month later, I met them again in Panama City. That was creepy =) The world still is a small place ;-)

Last but not least: I don't care as long as you sing by The Beatsteacks.

and I don't care as long as you sing
and I don't care as long as we swing
and I don't care as long as you sing

I get everything right and I want you to
I get everything right I'm not playing rude
I get everything right I get up and swing

you make me sing

so here we go it doesn't pay
it won't protect me no more
when I get up I break it down
I'll double back and for sure
I go back to zero

I get up

I swallow a lot if the pressure is up
and the feeling i've got
is I'm not gonna stop
we are back in the early morning
we are back in the early morning

so here we go it doesn't pay
it won't protect me no more
when i get up I break it down 2x
I'll double back and for sure
I go back to zero

and I don't care as long as you sing
and I don't care as long as we swing
I don't care as long as you sing

I get up

so here we go it doesn't pay

I'll double back and for sure
I go back to zero

So here we go now

Well open up your mind and see like me, open up your plans and damn you're free

2008 was definitely a year of quite good music. I can't really decide on one song being my favourite song of the year...But I can tell you which one is my favourite video 2008: I'm yours -Jason Mraz.

It reminds me so much of Costa Rica, it really looks the same!
When I heard the first few chords, I was like "Oh please, not another Jack Johnson-double!"...but the song is just great and catchy and the lyrics match with the sound. It does sound like Jack Johnson, but listen to Make it mine or Geek in pink and you'll see, he kinda has his own sound.
itunes is giving aways music goodies from 26 december - 6 january, if you have an itunes account, you should definitely take advantage of that. They already gave me two music videos, Hot 'n' Cold by Katy Perry and That's not my name by The Ting Tings, one episode of a german TV Show and a package of three music videos of Jason Mraz: I'm yours, Geek in Pink and The Remedy (I don't worry), which I'm really happy about. I don't really care about The Ting Tings, neither about that episode, but hey, it was for free.
How do you like the video?

Today's title was taken from the same song's lyrics.

Somebody push it away so all that I can hear is a simple song

This is actually kind of weird...I bought a christmas present for my sister, Miley Cyrus' latest record (Breakout to whom it might be interesting), because she loves her, and of course I copied it into my itunes because I have all the music that exists in our home in my itunes =) I listened through it and as I expected it was, lets say "not my taste" of music, but then this song came up and now I've got a confession to make: I LOVE IT! It's called Simple Song and I really like the lyrics and can't get it out of my head. I never thought that Miley Cyrus would ever do that to me, haha.
So here are the lyrics. They're not even profound or something, still, it fits me pretty good right now. Don't you wish you would be able to turn off everything for a minute and get rid of all the crazy thoughts i your head and of all the noises around you?

Wake up, here I go, cram it all down my throat
Stomach so full that I wish I could choke
Seven a.m. my head's already in a spin
Just as soon I'm out that door, bam!
Hits me like a ton of those red bricks
Can't dig myself out of this highest ditch
This madness

I swear sometimes I can't tell
Which way is up, which way is down
It's all up in my face, need to push it away
Somebody push it away
So all that I can hear
Is a simple song
Sing along now

La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la

Midday sun beatin' on the concrete
Burnin' up my feet
Too many cars on the street
The noise, the red, the green
It makes me wanna scream

5 o'clock knocks
Bumper on bumper on bumper horns honkin'
Nobody's lookin' but everybody's talkin
It's another day on this highway

I swear sometimes I can't tell
Which way is up, which way is down
It's all up in my face
I need to push it away
Somebody push it away
'Cause all I wanna hear
Is a simple song

La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la

What I'd give to turn it off
Make it stop, make it stop
Gotta make it stop
So all that I can hear...

Wunschzettel

And I wouldn't be the one to kneel before the dreams I wanted

This is for all the ones who care about the climate change and your environment (the german-speaking ones):
There's a website where you can answer questions about any kind of stuff (movies, nature, math etc) and the more questions you answer right the more money you get. The earned money is then used for various projects, every month it's a different one. This month's project is to save bats.
Since you all want to surf/skate/snowboard and live in a clean environment, I think this ould be a good, fast and economic (you don't have to pay!) way to help.
Go to http://dein-wissen-hilft.de

Today's title is from "Sympathy" by The Goo Goo Dolls. I love this band, I love their usic, and this is one of my favourite songs. It is also a part of the OST of "A Cinderella Story". You might know "Iris" from the Goo Goo Dolls, it is quite a well-known song =) If you don't know Sympathy yet, shoud definitely listen to it now!

I've gotta roll the dice - never look back and never think twice

So - I got the longboard! After I picked it up I went home, and on my way I always have to go down a very long street, so I tried out the board (you know, riding a board that I never stood on, I thought it was better to just go straight at first).
As soon as I made the first push, I was totally amazed! Riding on a longboard is just awsome...you push once and you feel like you're moving at least 100m! Of course, it is not like that, but it was really fast. It is totally easy to maneuver, much easier than my "normal" skateboard, and you can hop on it, it cushions and the wood is also really elastic.
To put it short: I love my new skateboard!

Now to the facts to expand our knowledge ;-P:

Longboards are skateboards with a longer and mostly wider shape and cannot be used like a normal skateboard when it comes to tricks. As far as I know, there are very few ones that make Ollies (jumping) etc. possible, but even with those the capability is limited.
The softer wheels make it possible to adapt to rough streets as well as many other terrains, the fact that the wheels are much bigger than usual ones provide speed.
Longboarding is often said to be like surfing on the street, well, I think it is at least much more similar to surfing than skating on my smaller board - the shape and design of the board of course reminds me a lot of a surfboard.
Wikipedia tell us that longboards have a length between 90 and 150 cm. Mine is 105 cm long, and I have to say it is long enough/just right. I wouldn't know how to manage a 150cm-board =D
If you have a closer look, the board I got looks pretty used, it has colour stains and the grip tape is already disappearing. But the used look is one more reason why i like this board so much. It just the same with jeans =)
You can also see that the nose (the front part, you can see it on the left side) is bend down towards the ground,

I don't know why that is because neither the surfboards nor normal skateboards I have seen have this shape. But the solution of this question is already in process so keep looking for my response in ne of the following posts.
If you know me personally, you might also try my new board out as well, it is fun!

Todays title is taken from the theme song of the wrestling show WWE. I'm not a wrestling fan at all, but the song was on a CD one of my classmates in Costa Rica gave me and I really like it. You can listen to it here.

Sum 41 - Half hour of power

I already told you that I am also presenting you music on this blog, so I am going to start with my favourite band: SUM 41.
Sum 41 was "founded" on July 31, 1996 which is 41 days into summer - that's where the name comes from. Current members are Deryck Whibley (Bizzy D), lead singer and guitarist (you might know him as Avril Lavigne's husband), Jason McCaslin (Cone), bass guitarist and Steve Jocz (Stevo 32), drummer and lead singer of Sum 41's alter-ego band "Pain for pleasure". He also played drums for Avril Lavigne's album "The best damn thing". One of the former members but, I guess, the most famous one is Dave Baksh (Brownsound). He was the lead guitarist. Now he is in a some metal band he formed himself called "Brown Brigade".
So far they have released 6 albums, one of them is a concert record.
The first one I am presenting you is the first one that was published (in 2000) - Half hour of power.

  1. Grab the devil by the horns (and f*** him up the ass) is kind of the intro, a short (1 minute) instrumental. Normally, I only listen to the intro of a CD once or twice, but this one is actually fun to hear!
  2. Machine Gun - well...I guess this song doesn't have a very deep background or something like that... It's just about how he makes his day after a drunk night. You could also add that it's very fast-going so you should probably not listen to it at a high volume having a day like described in the song.
  3. What I believe is one of my favourites of this album. It's fast, and is fun to sing along. The interpretation is left to every single listener.
  4. THT (Tables have turned) is quite short, fast, and not easy to understand. So I just decided to show you a live version - it's kind of the same referring to the easiness of understanding ;-) Good to listen to it when you're really angry at someone!
  5. Makes no difference was the first song to be released and there are many versions of videos. First, the "normal" one, starring Sum on a private party. I think that one is pretty boring and main-stream. Then, there's a second version which was actually the first video for that song. It's a compilation of parts of short films the band made for fun, e.g. stealing pizza armed with water pistols, shooting people with water pistols while riding in a car etc. Sum 41 also filmed themselves dancing a choreography to that song on a public parking-lot. You can see that on one of their bonus-DVD's. or just click on my link ;-)
  6. Summer can be found on 2 albums: This one and "All Killer no Filler" (the 2nd one). Like many other earlier Sum 41 - songs, it is fast, not that long, but still great and I still listen to it a lot.
  7. 32 ways to die begins with the last word of "summer" and then breaks out into a drummer solo, later on supported by guitars, showing Stevo 32's skills. (look at the song's name, then look at Stevo's name)
  8. Second chance for Max Headroom - hm...I was always wondering what the name "Max Headroom" has to do with the text, so I finally searched it in Google and found out that Max Headroom was a character in a "science-fiction-fantasy" TV show, that has been set off very early because nobody watched it. Unlike in the title of the song, they didn't give it a second chance.
  9. Dave's posessed hair/What we're all about are two songs in one song. Dave's possessed hair - I really like the politics-critizising text, but what the hell happened with Dave's hair? "What we're all about" makes much more sense - each song member presents itself. The song has its own video, which is really funny, but, like a youtube-watcher said, "it is amazingly BAD - in a good way though." Maybe the fact that they're playing upside-down is a "small" hint to Spiderman jumping through this video ;-)
  10. Ride the chariot to the devil - another instrumental
  11. Another time around - Sometimes, I am asking myself exactly the same questions mentioned in the song. I know thinking about it doesn't change anything, but I still do. The rest of the almost 7 minutes of the song is just silence to make the HALF HOUR OF POWER complete ;-P
So, what's up with you, what's up with me? Did you like it? If you are living near me and if you know me and if you did like the album I will be glad to "lend it to you" to express it legally, you know what I mean =)

I love Sum 41 and describing and presenting this album made me love this band even more, haha. Or is it their videos? Or is it their sense for logic ;-)?
"What I do is what I chose, which makes it my decision." Ok, now that is logic...

Breakdown

This is Jack Johnson's video Breakdown. The only Jack Johnson-CD I have is the OST from Curious George, I have never seen the movie though.
If I wasn't saving money all the time to buy a new computer because this one is just hopeless, I would just go to my favourite CD-store and buy all of his albums. Well, I'll just have to wait until next year!
Anyways...just watch, listen to the relaxing song and enjoy ;-)

Ella ella eh eh eh

...okay, you all know it: Umbrella. And most of you are sick and tired of it. I am, too, by Rihanna's version. But recently, when I watched "The Hills" on MTV, I heard a new version and I loved it. I searched more on youtube and found another one. Both are great, but I like Marie Digby's best. What do you think?

This is Marie Digby's version. She put this video on Youtube and got a contract with Hollywood Records.

and this is Alejandro Monzano's (from Boyce Avenue) version, I didn't know this band before, and haven't heard any of their songs yet, but this one is good.

By the way, "the Hills" is a series on MTV, if you watched "Laguna Beach: The real OC" before, you can now see how Lauren's life continues (The Hills is a spin-off of Laguna Beach). It has 5 seasons so far, and if there isn't a 6th season following, there is another spin-off planned! Love it =)

Wonderwall Boulevard (DJ Ramo Remix)

I found this really cool song-mix on a CD my classmate Kenneth gave to me...It's a mix of Boulevard of broken dreams by Green Day and Wonderwall by Oasis. At the end: Eminem ;-)
It's like a totally new song and I love it so much! Enjoy!

The latest & the greatest (copied from MTV Hits)

The Latest:

The Greatest:

This time: Simple Plan. I recently saw their new video on MTV and kinda liked it. I didn't know what to put for "greatest", because there loads of songs I like, so I decided to show you the very first song, I'm just a kid. It's the song that made me curious about Simple Plan and i heard it the first time in the movie "Cheaper by the Dozen". Enjoy!

I proudly present: The Goo Goo Dolls

Titelsong: Before it's too late - The Goo Goo Dolls. Auf meinem MP3 Player laeuft staendig "Slide", noch ein empfehlenswerter Song. Also, wer die Goo Goo Dolls noch nie gehoert hat, sollte es einmal versuchen. Wer's nicht tut hat selber Schuld ;-)
